For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

Psalm 91: 11-12  (NIV)

Ever wonder how God can be so many places at one time? Yes, He is our glorious Creator who can accomplish all things. He is not limited by time or space. Yet He also comes with a whole army of angelic employees.

Angels are NOT human beings, although they can work through them. They are supernatural spiritual beings continuously praising God and working on his behalf with all living creatures. The angelic job description has but two responsibilities: Glorifying God and assisting with His mission. That’s why we refer to them as ministering spirits!

Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

Hebrews 1:14 (NIV)

Are we not the ones who will inherit salvation?  We sure hope to! That means the angels are here to serve, safeguard and minister to us just like they did Jesus! Ever had a coincidence happen that kept you out of harms way? I believe angels step in to protect us in those times.

Because of my poor balance, I am programmed to be concerned about my safety and easy mobility. I’m in the habit of just praying a silent “Thank You God!’ when circumstances line up to either keep me from harm or make life easier for me to navigate. I have to admit that I’ve never called on angels to help me. Perhaps it’s time to start! Couldn’t we all use some more power in our spiritual life?

I am a member (parishioner) of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic church. A few weeks ago we celebrated the feast of the Archangels in our liturgy. The Catholic church recognizes 3 of the Archangels: Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael.

Raphael is the archangel who oversees healing. His duties include providing healing and comfort to the sick and their caregivers and also for protecting travelers.

So I’m going to start calling out to St. Raphael as God’s anointed helper to assist me as I try to be of service to able bodies…even in my disabled world. Balance is not necessary to serve others OR our heavenly father. Maybe St. Raphael can reveal opportunities for me to do that while helping me with my balance at the same time!

In Catholic doctrine it says that God himself revealed to Raphael the Archangel a mandate to cure the bodily, mental and spiritual afflictions of all living creatures. Archangels are the chief angels of the heavenly realm and very powerful! I’ve always felt that God was with me. It’s encouraging to know that archangel of healing also has my back!

Gabriel is the archangel in charge of communicating important messages to people. He is the messenger of new beginnings. He spoke to Zechariah of his wife, Elizabeth giving birth to John the Baptist.

The angel said to him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news.

Luke 1:19  (NIV)

Gabriel later spoke to Mary herself about conceiving (through the Holy Spirit) Jesus, the messiah and savior of our world.

Michael is the archangel in charge of our protection…mostly from evil in the spiritual realm.

Those are just the archangels. Angels are everywhere…here to guide and protect us.

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.

Hebrews 13:2 (NIV)

How has “LIFE” happened to you? We can use all the help we can get. While we’re praying to our Lord…let’s also ask for assistance from His angels.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for sending Your angels to watch over and intervene for us. You’ve given us a whole heavenly realm to guide us and protect us. Help us to remember to ASK for their help, just like we need to ASK for Yours.
