ARE WE ASKING FOR THE RIGHT THING?

So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Luke 11:9  (NIV)

I’ve had almost three months of living with the ’drop head’ I mentioned in my last blog post about Unanswered Prayers. https://mvarga.com/fitness-wellness/unanswered-prayers/

Apparently I’m extremely sensitive to the Botox I had injected in my neck to hold my head up straighter. Instead, the procedure dropped my chin down to my chest…a condition called ‘drop head’.

I complained frequently about having someone attached to my hip whenever I left my home. I couldn’t see except right in front of me! Drop head was also beyond challenging for someone with poor balance to begin with.

I entitled my last blog “Unanswered Prayers”. Perhaps I was praying for the wrong thing.

Ever felt that way? We have our mind set on one thing. I know we are supposed to pray for God’s will. Why would He not want me to hold my head up taller? I know I requested this, but why would He want me to go through 3+ months fighting with my vision and balance? It made me more physically disabled than when I started! I was so confused

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6   (NIV)

Sometimes we have to walk through grief and confusion before we begin to see our path more clearly.

What lessons are we supposed to be learning? I guess counselors would be out of work if that was a quick, easy answer.

Some find real comfort in going to God’s Word. Try using the Bible concordance of topics. That’s a BIG book when trying to find God’s thoughts on one issue. It is NOT a ‘how-to’ manual, but we can find peace in seeing how God wants us to view life…especially if we’re looking at it just from our own selfish perspective.

So I’m going to try using my Bible Concordance more frequently to see God’s Will and promises for me.

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Hebrew 4:16   NIV

I’m curious to see His thoughts on ‘drop head.’ I know that’s not in God’s Word, but I’m sure I can find plenty of scriptures on patience, perseverance and not giving up.

I wonder what the Bible says about vanity, too. It’s worth examining my motives, although I don’t want to assume that my suffering is punishment for wanting to improve my posture.

So instead of praying to stand up with an upright head…I’ll pray that God shows me how to live my life joyfully even with a posture I detest.

My son always tells me that nobody cares how I hold my head, as long as I’m safe. I know that God doesn’t either. And who knows…maybe He will answer my prayer.

For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Luke 11:10  (NIV)

Dear Lord,

Sometimes it’s so hard to determine Your will for our lives.Help us to search Your Word…and not just rely on our own feelings and those of others.

When our thoughts and the world start to close in on us, remind us to search the Bible, and not just the Internet. Teach us to find joy in You, regardless of our circumstances. Help us trust You even when we don’t understand the answers to our prayers.
